Lions visit to Te Ara Whānui Kura Kaupapa Māori o ngā Kōhanga Reo o Te Awa Kairangi
Students of Te Ara Whānui Kura Kaupapa Māori o ngā Kōhanga Reo o Te Awa Kairangi delivered a rousing welcome to the Lions as they visited for an afternoon of singing, Q&As and fun!
Lions fullback Ruben Love said the experience was amazing as well as vital as they look to connect and inspire the community and youth.
“It was awesome experience to go to Kaupapa Māori. It was special for us to connect with people of our community. It’s imperative for us to inspire the youth because they’re the ones coming through.”
Wellington Rugby Coach and Development Officer Aaron Jones said the students were star struck by the Lions players, and it was great to see such an amazing community event where they got to perform for the players.
“It was an awesome community event and had a real community feel to it. These kids see the players as superstars. They see them on TV, at the games, and it’s part of the game that’s been missing for a while, so to rub shoulders with them and perform for them is quite special for the students.”
