Mills Albert Wellington Lions name side for Sky Stadium Opener
The Mills Albert Wellington Lions are ready to take on Bay of Plenty this weekend, as the side prepares to run out at Sky Stadium for the first time in 2024.
Wellington Lions Head Coach Alando Soakai has made key changes to his side, as they look to regain momentum following their first loss of the season.
“We’ve taken the opportunity to reflect on our performance this week and focus our energy on the way we want to play against Bay of Plenty,” remarked Soakai, “It was really special to be able to take the game out to the community at Porirua Park, but we’re excited to be back at Sky Stadium.”
The front row gets a shakeup as Penieli Poasa and PJ Sheck move to the starting lineup, with a strong impact group ready to come off the bench. Caleb Delany shifts back to start at lock this week, with Jeremiah Avei-Collins earning his first start at loose forward.
Some changes in in the backline, with Nui Muriwai starting at halfback after an impressive hit out against Tasman. After running out for his 50th match last week, Pepesana Patafilo returns to the starting XV, partnering with Julian Savea on the wing.
A familiar midfield sees the return of Riley Higgins, with Petone teammate, Tjay Clarke, starting at fullback.
