Pride Team Named for Clash with Manawatū Cyclones

The Wellington Pride are preparing for their clash with the Manawatū Cyclones this Saturday in round five of the 2022 Farah Palmer Cup, presented by Bunnings Warehouse.

Head Coach Zak Feaunati has named his side, with several changes to the run-on side that took on Waikato two weeks ago.

Oriental Rongotai’s Raylene Lolo makes her first start of the season at tighthead after an impressive showing off the bench in last round, with former Brumbies prop Oneata Schwalger providing backup.

Norths’ Te Amohaere Ngata-Aerengamate joins sister Te Kura Ngata-Aerengamate in the run-on side, partnering with captain Jackie Patea-Fereti at lock. Black Fern lock Joanah Ngan-Woo will provide cover from the bench.

Midfielder Teilah Ferguson shifts to the right wing this week, with Harmony Ioane slotting in on the left. Try scoring machine Ayesha Leti-I’iga, who currently holds the Pride record for the most tries against Manawatū, will look to add impact off the bench.

Young up and comer, Northern United’s Julie Tusa is set to make her debut off the bench this week.

“Julie has had an outstanding club season for Norths, and she’s been waiting in the wing. She’s come into the environment, and understandably she’s taken a bit of time to adjust to high performance, but she has been chipping away each week. She played development last week and we think that she is ready to go, so we’re excited to how she contributes,” said Feaunati.

“It’s going to be a big game, for both teams. We’ve played them the last few years, and for a number of reasons, they’ve had the better of us. The girls have been working hard over the last two weeks so we’re looking forward to getting out there,” said Feaunati.

The Pride take on the Cyclones this Saturday, 13 August at 2:05PM at Central Energy Trust Arena.

The match will be televised live on Sky Sport.
